On Monday, April 7, 2014, more than 350 activists of all ages converged upon the California State Capitol in Sacramento to participate in the Annual Advocacy Day organized and hosted by the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region. Now in its seventh year, the 2014 Advocacy Day drew the largest number of participants to date with activists traveling from San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Central Coast, Fresno, Bay Area and locally from Sacramento, all with one mission in mind: to advocate for the Armenian Cause.
Showing their promise as leaders who will continue to pursue justice for the Armenian People into the future, students from Armenian schools over the State proudly wore their school uniforms into the Capitol, representing the Rose & Alex Pilibos School in Hollywood, Ferrahian High School in Encino, Mesrobian Armenian School in Montebello, Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School in Clovis, and Krouzian-Zekarian-Vasbouragan
School in San Francisco. An enthusiastic group of students from the San Marino public High School, led by their 12th grade World History teacher Peter Paccone, joined in Advocacy Day to promote their Genocide Education project to State legislators and education officials.
Groups of activists representing the Armenian Relief Society, the Armenian Youth Federation, the Service Employees International Union, as well as members of the ANCA-WR Education Committee and Near East Relief Committee all joined the Government Affairs Committee, Board of Directors, and staff in achieving a day of well-organized grassroots advocacy.
Before entering the Capitol building, the large group stood on the front steps for a group photo, followed by an impromptu and emotionally charged singing of Mer Hayrenik, the Armenian national anthem.
ANCA-WR Board members, led by Chairperson Nora Hovsepian, Esq., held private meetings with State Assembly Speaker John A. Perez, incoming Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, and Assemblymembers Katcho Achadjian, Mike Gatto, Adrin Nazarian and Scott Wilk to discuss specific pending issues, particularly related to mandates for Genocide education, ongoing efforts to secure California’s recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh, the current crisis of Armenians who were recently displaced from their ancestral home in Kessab and condemnation of attacks facilitated by Turkey across the Syrian border, as well as plans for next year’s Genocide Centennial commemoration, including the ANCA-WR’s “America We Thank You: An Armenian Tribute to Near East Relief” initiative.
All in all, small groups of activists were assigned to more than 75 meetings with State Assemblymembers and Senators and/or their staff throughout the day during which legislators received folders containing information on each of the issues to be discussed. Particular focus was placed on garnering support for several pending bills and resolutions. Specifically, activists asked legislators to vote for Assemblyman Adrin Nazarian two Genocide education bills: AB1915, 
which provides a mandate to teach Armenian Genocide in California’s public schools, and AB659 which incorporates the oral history component into Genocide education, and for Assemblyman Mike Gatto’s pending resolution, AJR32, which calls for outright recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh and the right of its people to self-determination.
The highlight of the day was the presentation and unanimous adoption of Armenian Genocide resolutions in both houses of the State legislature (SJR21 and AJR35), whereby a “Week of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923″ was proclaimed from April 7-11, 2014, and Congress and the U.S. President were called upon to follow suit. The galleries were filled to capacity by ANCA-WR Advocacy Day activists who attentively listened to speaker after speaker rise in each house in recognition of the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Of particular importance was the fact that for the first time, the leaders of each house personally introduced the resolutions. In the State Assembly, Speaker John A. Perez, who had traveled with an ANCA-WR delegation to Armenia last September, eloquently and passionately recounted his realization at Dzidzernakapert’s Armenian Genocide Museum that his own former colleague, Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian, also on the legislative trip, discovered a photo of his uncle among the photos of victims featured in the Museum. Speaker Perez explained how moved he was by the fact that even 99 years later, the effects of the Genocide still resonate so deeply in the lives of people he knows today, and how the injustice of its denial is so compelling, especially with the recent displacement of the Armenian population of Kessab, Syria.
In the State Senate, incoming Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon also delivered an impassioned plea to his colleagues for justice for the Armenian People, explaining how many of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide made their way to California, becoming model citizens as part of the multi-ethnic fabric of our society.
As their colleagues listened attentively, leaders of the Black Caucus (Senator Holly Mitchell and Assemblymember Cheryl Brown), the Latino Caucus (Senator Ricardo Lara and Assemblymember Ian Calderon), and the Jewish Caucus (Senator Marty Block) all rose in both houses to voice the support of their groups for recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Many of them included mention of the current plight of the Armenians of Kessab and the historical significance that the loss of the last indigenously inhabited Armenian town on historic Western Armenian lands represents in the context of ongoing Genocide denial.
Assemblymembers Katcho Achadjian, Adrin Nazarian, and Scott Wilk all spoke powerfully of their own familial and ancestral ties to the Armenian Genocide and the personal nature of their quest for justice. Senators Tom Berryhill, Carol Lui and Jim Nielsen and Assemblymembers Mike Gatto and Mark Levine spoke forcefully about the importance of recognizing the Armenian Genocide, their own connection to Armenian-American constituents in their district and their understanding of their plight. Senator Mark Wyland passionately articulated why ongoing attempts by the Turkish and Azeri lobbies to distort history and deny justice to the Armenian People must be thwarted.
On the Senate floor, Glendale City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian delivered impassioned remarks on behalf of the ANCA-WR in which he eloquently shared the story of his great-grandfather who was deported to the Syrian desert but survived ultimately to have a great-grandson who can embrace his role as a public servant in the United States while maintaining his Armenian heritage and vision of securing justice at last. Kassakhian called upon California’s political leaders “to have the courage to speak truth to power” by recognizing the Armenian Genocide and its present-day consequences, securing just reparations for a crime that continues to be denied, and learning the lessons of history as we guard the future for generations to come.
A lunchtime reception organized by the ANCA-WR and generously hosted by several members of the State legislature, including Senators Kevin de Leon and Ricardo Lara and Assemblymembers Katcho Achadjian, Cheryl Brown, Ian Calderon, Chris Holden, Christina Garcia, Mike Gatto, Adrin Nazarian, Kristen Oslen, Jim Patterson, and Scott Wilk, provided a further forum for activists and legislators to interact in a more casual setting.
Featured in the Capitol Rotunda was the ANCA-WR’s exhibit showcasing its “America We Thank You” tribute to Near East Relief, in order to educate the public about the role of the American People, and specifically the people of California, in rescuing hundreds of thousands of refugees and orphans who survived the Armenian Genocide by raising $117 million ($2.7 billion present value) and administering over 400 orphanages, hospitals, food & clothing distribution centers, and vocational training schools throughout the Ottoman Empire from 1915-1930. Many of the activists participating in Advocacy Day were the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of orphans who were saved by Near East Relief and had their own personal stories to tell.
ANCA-WR Government Affairs Committee Chair Armen Garabedian, Esq., summed it all up best when he said, “Our many late night meetings and hours of work over the last eight months all became a worthy sacrifice when we saw the faces of so many young students, senior citizens, and activists of all ages so eager to become civically engaged as American citizens while passionately advocating for every aspect of the Armenian Cause. We look forward to even greater numbers of participants next year for the Genocide Centennial and will begin planning for it very soon.” ANCA-WR Executive Director Elen Asatryan added, “These 350 activists are just a small part of our large grassroots army, but their voices were loud and clear in the halls of the State Capitol. With all the money spent by our enemies on public relations firms lobbying for the Turkish and Azeri governments, they cannot even come close to replicating the empowerment generated by our grassroots advocates.”
On behalf of the ANCA-WR Board of Directors, Chairperson Nora Hovsepian, Esq., expressed profound gratitude for such a productive and reinvigorating day: “To the legislators who hosted and facilitated Advocacy Day, to the Government Affairs Committee members who worked so tirelessly for many months to organize and train over 350 willing and eager activists on how to effectively communicate our message to over 75 State legislators, and most of all to each and every participant – parents, teachers, students, and activists of all ages – we thank you all. As we look ahead to further success in all our ongoing initiatives, we need each and every one of you to maintain the same level of activism and participation to build on the success of this year’s Advocacy Day and grow our unstoppable grassroots army as we seek justice together for the Armenian Cause.”

ՍԱՔՐԱՄԵՆԹՕ.- Երկուշաբթի, Ապրիլ 7ին, տարբեր տարիքի աւելի քան 350 Հայ Դատի գործիչներ իրենց մասնակցութիւնը բերին Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին նախաձեռնութեամբ՝ Քալիֆորնիոյ մայրաքաղաք Սաքրամենթոյի մէջ կայացած հանդիպումներու եւ ձեռնարկներու շարքին՝ Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան 99րդ տարելիցը ոգեկոչելու եւ Հայ Դատին ի նպաստ քարոզչութիւն կատարելու նպատակով: Արդէն 7րդ տարին ըլլալով կազմակերպուող այս նախաձեռնութեան մասնակիցներուն թիւը այս տարի նոր մրցանիշ մը հաստատեց՝ ի մի բերելով նահանգի զանազան շրջաններէն հայեր, ներառեալ՝ աշակերտներ հետեւեալ վարժարաններէն՝ «Փիլիպոս», «Ֆերահեան», «Մեսրոպեան», «Քէյեան» եւ «Գռուզեան-Զաքարեան-Վասպուրական», ինչպէս նաեւ՝ Սան Մարինոյի պետական երկրորդական վարժարանի 12րդ դասարանէն խումբ մը աշակերտներ, առաջնորդութեամբ իրենց պատմութեան ուսուցիչ Փիթըր Փաքոնի:
Ներկայ էին նաեւ ՀՕՄի, ՀԵԴի, Սպասարկութեան մարզի աշխատաւորներու միջազգային միութեան, ինչպէս նաեւ Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի դաստիարակչական ու Մերձաւոր Արեւելքի նպաստամատոյցի յանձնախումբերու ներկայացուցիչներ:
Խումբը նախ նահանգային խորհրդարանի շէնքին առջեւ հաւաքուեցաւ եւ լուսանկարուելէ ետք՝ երգեց «Մեր Հայրենիք» քայլերգը, ապա Հայ Դատի պատուիրակութիւն մը՝ առաջնորդութեամբ ատենապետ իրաւաբան Նորա Յովսէփեանի, անջատ հանդիպումներ ունեցաւ խորհրդարանի նախագահ Ճան Փերեզի, Ծերակոյտի նախագահի պաշտօնակատար Քեւըն տը Լէոնի, խորհրդարանի անդամներ Խաչօ Աշաճեանի, Մայք Կաթոյի, Ատրին Նազարեանի եւ Սքաթ Ուիլքի հետ, քննելու համար Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան դասաւանդման, Արցախի անկախութեան ճանաչման, Քեսապէն տեղահանուած հայութեան եւ Ցեղասպանութեան հարիւրամեակին առթիւ կազմակերպուելիք ձեռնարկներուն, ներառեալ՝ Հայ Դատի «Շնորհակալութիւն Ամերիկա» արշաւին, առնչուող մանրամասնութիւնները:
Միաժամանակ, գործիչներու փոքր խումբեր հանդիպումներու շարք մը ունեցան նահանգային խորհրդարանի անդամներու, ծերակուտականներու կամ անոնց ներկայացուցիչներուն հետ, քն-նելով հայութիւնը յուզող շարք մը հարցեր:
Օրուան գլխաւոր իրադարձութիւնն էր Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան բանաձեւերու ներկայացումն ու միաձայնութեամբ վաւերացումը խորհրդարանին ու Ծերակոյտին մէջ, որուն շնորհիւ՝ Ապրիլ 7-11 շաբաթը կը հռչակուի «1915-1923ի Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան յիշատակման շաբաթ»:
Յատկանշական էր, որ այս տարի բանաձեւերը ներկայացուած էին խորհրդարանի եւ Ծերակոյտի նախագահներուն՝ Փերեզի եւ տը Լէոնի կողմէ, որոնք բանաձեւերը ներկայացնելէ առաջ՝ զգացական ելոյթներ ունեցան: Բանաձեւին ի նպաստ ելոյթներ ունցեան նաեւ խորհրդարանի Սեւամորթներու, Սպանախօսներու եւ Հրէական համախմբումներու ղեկավարները, ինչպէս նաեւ Ցեղասպանութեան ճանաչման ի նպաստ ելոյթներ ունեցան Աշաճեան, Նազարեան, Կաթօ, Ուիլք, Մարք Լեւին եւ ծերակուտականներ Թամ Պերիհիլ, Քերըլ Լուի, Ճիմ Նիլսըն եւ Մարք Ուիլընտ: Ոմանք անդրադարաձան նաեւ Քեսապի իրադարձութեանց:
Ծերակոյտին առջեւ, Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին խօսքը փոխանցեց Կլենտէյլ քաղաքի քարտուղար Արտաշէս Քասախեանը՝ խօսելով Ցեղասպանութենէն վերապրած իր մեծ հօր մասին:
Կէսօրին, Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին կազմակերպութեամբ ու խումբ մը խորհրդարանականներու եւ ծերակուտականներու հիւրընկալութեամբ տեղի ունեցաւ ճաշի հիւրասիրութիւն մը, որ կարծիքներու փոխանակման յաւելեալ առիթ մը հանդիսացաւ:
Այս խորհրդակցութեանց եւ ձեռնարկներուն զուգահեռ, նահանգային խորհրդարանի շէնքին մէջ կազմակերպուած էր նաեւ ցուցահանդէս մը, որ նուիրուած է Մերձաւոր Արեւելքի նպաստամատոյց միութեան (Near East Relief), նկատի ունենալով, որ Հայ Դատը որոշած է աւելի քան մէկ միլիոն հայեր, ներառեալ 134,000 որբեր, փրկելու աշխատանքին մէջ այդ կազմակերպութեան ունեցած դերակատարութիւնը պատուելու միտող ձեռնարկներու շարք մը կազմակերպել՝ Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան հարիւրամեակի սեմին:
Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի կառավարական հարցերու յանձնախումբի ատենապետ իրաւաբան Արմէն Կարապետեան յայտնեց, թէ այս նախաձեռնութիւնը իրականացնելու համար տարուած աշխատանքը աւելիով արդիւնաւորուած է, երբ մասնակիցներու դէմքերուն վրայ նկատուած է Հայ Դատի աշխատանքներուն մասնակցելու փափաք մը: Ան յոյս յայտնեց, որ յառաջիկայ տարուան նախաձեռնութեան կը մասնակցին աւելի մեծ թիւով հայորդիներ:
Իր կարգին, Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի գործադիր վարիչ Էլէն Ասատրեան յայտնեց, թէ Սաքրամենթոյի Հայ Դատի օրուան մասնակիցները միայն մէկ փոքր մասնիկը կը հանդիսանան Հայ Դատի համար պայքարող մեծ բանակին, սակայն հակառակ իրենց փորք թիւին, անոնք կրցած են իրենց ձայնը յստակօրէն լսելի դարձնել. բան մը, որ չեն կրնար ընել հսկայ գումարներ ծախսող հայութեան թշանամի՝ թուք եւ ատրպէյճանցի գործիչները:
Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի ատենապետ Նորա Յովսէփեան եզրակացուցած է՝ ըսելով. «Շնորհակալութիւն կը յայտնենք բոլորին՝ Հայ Դատի հետապնդման օրը կազմակերպելու նպաստած եւ հիւրընկալած օրէնսդիրներուն, կառավարական հարցերու յանձնախումբի անդամներուն, որոնք լաւապէս պատրաստեցին 350 մասնակիցները 75 օրէնսդիրներու հետ խորհրդակցութեան, եւ յատկապէս բոլո՛ր մասնակիցներուն՝ ծնողներուն, ուսուցիչներուն, աշակերտներուն ու ամէն տարիքի գործիչներուն: Մեր ապագայ գործունէութեան յաջողութիւնը ապահովելու համար, հարկաւոր է մասնակցութեան եւ նուիրումի մակարդակը բարձր պահել, որպէսզի աւելիով հզօրացնենք մեր անսասան բանակը եւ հասնինք Հայ Դատի արդար լուծման»:
Incoming Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon Plays Key Role in Success of ANCA-WR Advocacy Day
When more than 350 Armenian-American activists converged on the California State Capitol in Sacramento on Monday, April 7, 2014, for the ANCA Western Region’s 7th Annual Advocacy Day, their experience was made all the more special due to the efforts of incoming Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon and his staff.
As preparations for this year’s Advocacy Day commenced several months ago, the ANCA-WR decided to request that the annual resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide be more strongly worded than it had been in previous years. This call to action was heeded by Senator de Leon, who took on the responsibility of personally introducing the resolution in the State Senate, all the while working closely with the ANCA-WR. The result was SJR 21, which is one of the strongest Armenian Genocide resolutions ever adopted by a state legislative body.
The Senate session was opened with a moving invocation and prayer by Father Vahan Gosdanian of Fresno’s Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, followed by the flag presentation by the Santa Clara Homenetmen Ani Scouts. As Senator de Leon rose to introduce the resolution, he acknowledged the gallery full of Advocacy Day participants and thanked the ANCA-WR for its presence and participation. In his remarks urging support for SJR 21, Senator de Leon eloquently described that the violence against the Armenians was inhumane, but “now they would be made to bear a second inhumanity of violence against their memory.” He proclaimed that “the Great State of California will not let their history vanish and will not let their demand for justice to go unheeded.”
Strong words of support were also voiced by Senator Ricardo Lara, who also co-authored the resolution and chairs the Legislative Latino Caucus, Senator Holly Mitchell as Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus, Senator Mark Wyland who described Turkish lobbyists as “absolute deniers,” Senator Marty Block as Chair of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus, Senator Carol Liu who represents a large Armenian-American constituency, Senator Tom Berryhill who drew parallels with displacement of Armenians during the Genocide and now again in Kessab, and Senator Jim Nielsen who called for Genocide education of California’s youth and justice for the Armenian people.
Glendale City Clerk Ardashes Kassakhian was invited by the ANCA-WR to address the Senate on behalf of the community in support of the resolution. He passionately called upon California’s political leaders “to have the courage to speak truth to power” by recognizing the Armenian Genocide and its present-day consequences, securing just reparations for a crime that continues to be denied, and learning the lessons of history as we face the current crisis in Kessab and guard the future for generations to come.
At the end, a unanimous vote of 35-0 passed the resolution, as Senator de Leon presented the ANCA-WR with a commemorative framed copy of it for display.
“We’d like to thank Senator de Leon and his staff for the extraordinary work he did to make sure that this annual event at the State Capitol would be a success,” said ANCA-WR Executive Director Elen Asatryan. “In particular, we’d like to acknowledge the assistance provided by his deputy district director Baydsar Thomasian. She went above and beyond the call of duty by also lending a hand with the organization of the rotunda exhibit featuring Near East Relief efforts in California, as well as the luncheon reception where several legislators were able to interact with Advocacy Day participants in a more casual setting.”
ANCA-WR Chair Nora Hovsepian, Esq., echoed these sentiments, adding that “the ANCA-WR is grateful to Senator Kevin de Leon for his support and leadership on issues of concern to the Armenian-American community. We look forward to continuing to work closely with him as he assumes the role of Senate President Pro Tem not only on the issue of the Armenian Genocide, but also in continuing efforts to secure California’s recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh, securing mandates for Armenian Genocide education in public schools, preparing for next year’s Genocide Centennial, and acknowledging California’s contribution to the Near East Relief effort which saved the Armenian Nation from total annihilation.”

Ապրիլ 7ի Ծերակոյտի նիստը բացուեցաւ Ֆրեզնոյի Ս. Երրորդութիւն եկեղեցւոյ հոգեւոր հայր Վահան քհնյ. Կոստանեանի պատգամով եւ աղօթքով, որմէ ետք տեղի ունեցաւ դրօշակի արարողութիւն՝ կատարողութեամբ Սանթա Քլարայի ՀՄԸՄի «Անի» մասնաճիւղի սկաուտներուն:
Ապա, ծերակուտական տը Լէոն բեմ բարձրացաւ ներկայացնելու համար բանաձեւը: Ան նախ ողջունեց Հայ Դատի օրուան մասնակցիները ու շնորհակալութիւն յայտնեց Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին, այս նախաձեռնութեան մասնակցելուն համար: Թիւ 21 բանաձեւը ներկայացնելէ եւ անոր ի նպաստ քուէարկելու կոչ ընելէ ետք ծերակուտականներուն, տը Լէոն շեշտեց, թէ Քալիֆորնիոյ իշխանութիւնները պէտք չէ առիթ տան, որ անմարդկային բռնարարքներու ենթարկուած հայութեան ժառանգորդները ենթարկուին իրենց յիշողութեան դէմ երկրորդ բռնարարքի մը:
Բանաձեւին ի նպաստ ազդեցիկ ելոյթներ ունեցան նաեւ բանաձեւի համահեղինակ եւ Սպանախօսներու համախմբումի ատենապետ Ռիքարտօ Լարան, Սեւամորթներու համախմբումի ատենապետ Հոլի Միչըլ, Հրէական համախմբումի ատենապետ Մարթի Պլաք, ինչպէս նաեւ ծերակուտականներ՝ Մարք Ուիլընտ, Քերըլ Լիու, Թամ Պերիհիլ եւ Ճիմ Նիլսըն: Ելոյթ ունեցողները դատապարտեցին Ցեղասպանութիւնը ուրացողները, Ցեղասպանութեան դասաւանդման ի նպաստ արտայայտութիւններ ունեցան եւ զուգահեռներ գծեցին Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան եւ Քեսապի վերջին իրադարձութեանց միջեւ:
Ծերակոյտին առջեւ Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին խօսքը փոխանցեց Կլենտէյլ քաղաքի քարտուղար Արտաշէս Քասախեանը՝ խօսելով Ցեղասպանութենէն վերապրած իր մեծ հօր մասին եւ կոչ ընելով Քալիֆորնիոյ քաղաքական ղեկավարներուն, որ քաջութիւն ունենան Ցեղասպանութեան ճշմարտութիւնը հաստատելու, դէմ դնելու համար զայն ուրանալ փորձողներուն եւ աջակցելու համար վնասուց հատուցում ապահովելու ջանքերուն: Ան մատնանշեց պատմութենէն դասեր սորվելու կարեւորութիւնը յատկապէս այս օրերուն, երբ Քեսապի հայութիւնը դարձեալ տարագրուած է, որպէսզի նման ոճիրներ չկր-կնուին ապագային:
Աւարտին, բանաձեւը վաւերացուեցաւ միաձայնութեամբ (35-0) եւ ծերակուտական տը Լէոն բանաձեւին մէկ օրինակը յանձնեց Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի ներկայացուցիչներուն:
«Շնորհակալութիւն կը յայտնենք ծերակուտական տը Լէոնին ու անոր անձնակազմին, որ արտակարգ աշխատանք կատարելով՝ ապահովեցին այս տարուան նախաձեռնութեան յաջողութիւնը: Յատուկ ուշադրութեան առարկայ կ՛ուզենք դարձել ծերակուտականին շրջանային վարիչի օգնական Պայծառ Թոմասեանին մատուցած կենսական օժանդակութիւնները: Ան յատկանշական ներդրում ունեցաւ նաեւ նահանգային խորհրդարանի շէնքին մէջ Մերձաւոր Արեւելքի նպաստամատոյց միութեան (Near East Relief) նուիրուած ցուցահանդէսին ու խումբ մը խորհրդարանականներու եւ ծերակուտականներու հիւրընկալութեամբ տեղի ունեցած ճաշի հիւրասիրութեան կազմակերպման մէջ: Այս վերջինը Հայ Դատի օրուան մասնակցիներուն եւ խորհրդարանականներուն միջեւ կարծիքներու փոխանակման յաւելեալ առիթ մը հանդիսացաւ», կը յայտնէ Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի գործադիր վարիչ Էլէն Ասատրեան:
Երկրորդելով Ասատրեանի խօսքերը՝ Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի ատենապետ իրաւաբան Նորա Յովսէփեան կ՛աւելցնէ. «Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբը երախտապարտ է ծերակուտական տը Լէոնին, որ ամերիկահայութիւնը յուզող հարցերու նեցուկ կը կանգնի եւ առաջնորդողի դեր ստանձնած է: Խանդավառ ենք մեր գործակցութիւնը շարունակելով անոր հետ, երբ ան կը ստանձնէ Ծերակոյտի նախագահի պաշտօնը:
Գործակցութիւնը պիտի ըլլայ ոչ միայն Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան ճանաչման, այլ նաեւ Քալիֆորնիոյ կողմէ Արցախի Հանրապետութեան անկախութեան ճանաչման, Հայկական Ցեղասպանութիւնը պետական վարժարաններուն մէջ դասաւանդելու ջանքերու ընդարձակման, Ցեղասպանութեան հարիւրամեակին առիթով ձեռնարկներու կազմակերպման ու հայութիւնը բնաջնջումէ փրկելու նախաձեռնութեանց մէջ Մերձաւոր Արեւելքի նպաստամատոյց միութեան ջանքերը լուսարձակի տակ առնելու աշխատանքներուն գծով»:
