HyeVotes Voter Assistance Hotspots Set for Sunday, October 30

News

The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region’s Hye Votes voter registration and GOTV initiative along with its local chapters and coalition partners including the Armenian Youth Federation will set up several hot spots throughout Glendale, Crescenta Valley, and Hollywood to provide election information and assist community members through the voting process. Volunteers will be on hand to help complete applications for vote-by-mail ballots and guide absentee voters on how to properly complete their vote-by-mail ballots for the November 8 Elections.

“The voting process can be intimidating for first time voters and community members with language barriers. Just in the last several days, our office has received over a thousand calls and over 600 requests for help from community members. Given that this need seems to be wide spread throughout the district, we felt it would be best to set up additional locations and provide much-needed assistance to make sure everyone’s vote is properly cast and counted,” stated ANCA-WR Executive Director Elen Asatryan.

On the same day HyeVotes will also air a Get-out-the-Vote three-hour television special starting at 12:00PM on AABC, ARTN, HighVision, Horizon, PanArmenian TV, and USArmenia

The ANCA-WR HyeVotes initiative was launched by the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region in 2012, as a region wide, non-partisan initiative to engage community members in the electoral process. The HyeVotes efforts in coalition with a network of non-profit organizations, student groups, and community members, are intended to register and encourage the community to vote in Elections while also serving as a source for voter information.

The fundamental goals of the ANCA-WR HyeVotes initiative are to increase the number of registered voters, to create public awareness regarding the importance of civic engagement and the electoral process and to provide voters with comprehensive nonpartisan information about the contests on their ballots. The ANCA-WR HyeVotes initiative also encourages civic engagement and volunteerism by partnering with local non-profit organizations and student groups.

The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian-American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices and supporters around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
