LOS ANGELES, CA – With the June 7 primary elections just around the corner, Team HyeVotes welcomes the public to attend a 30-Day Election Countdown BBQ for a meet and greet with candidates, political activists, community leaders and volunteers from all primary campaigns. Event attendees are also welcome to phone bank for HyeVotes to get-out-the-vote.
HyeVotes bridges the gap between what voters want and who they support. “The HyeVotes BBQ is a unique opportunity for members of the public to build bonds with community leaders, discuss issues with elected officials and candidates, and educate the public about the electoral process,” stated HyeVotes Deputy Campaign Director Tatev Oganyan.
Since the launch of the HyeVotes Campaign Headquarters in March 2016, Team HyeVotes has actively educated and engaged the public to participate in the electoral process at all government levels. Most recently, at the April 24th Rally for Justice, HyeVotes interns and volunteers successfully helped register dozens of people to vote, making them eligible to participate in the upcoming June 7 primary elections.
The registrar’s office will begin mailing out absentee ballots on May 9.th “Although our campaign headquarters is located in Glendale, we must be ready to assist our community throughout the Los Angeles County area. Our grassroots efforts are imperative to raise awareness of the election process and address the needs of every voter. We call for full engagement of our community activists in coordination with the campaign headquarters to ensure high voter turnout by the Armenian community, which will empower and strengthen our community,” stated HyeVotes Campaign Director Anna Arakelyan.
The HyeVotes Campaign was launched by the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region in 2012, as a region wide, non-partisan initiative to engage community members in the electoral process. The HyeVotes efforts in coalition with a network of non-profit organizations, student groups, and community members, are intended to register and encourage the community to vote in Elections while also serving as a source for voter information. Since the start of the HyeVotes initiative, over 15,000 new Armenian American voters have been registered.
