The Armenian Legal Center for Justice and Human Rights (ALC) actively contributed to the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) by shedding light on the struggles of Armenian women in conflict zones and demanding concrete action for their protection and empowerment.
As part of its engagement, along with Armenian Relief Society, ALC co-organized a critical side event titled “Resilience and Recovery: The Role of Women in Conflict Zones and Health Advocacy”. The event, held on March 12, 2025, at the Church Center for the United Nations (CCUN), brought together experts and advocates to share stories and solutions related to the challenges faced by women in Armenia/Artsakh, Syria, Lebanon, and Jerusalem.

The panel featured distinguished speakers, including:
• Arousyak Melkonian, Chairperson of the Armenian Relief Society
• Tereza Yerimyan, MBA, Women in Conflict
• Dr. Lorky Libaridian, Women in Conflict and Health Advocacy
• Dr. Kevork Hagopjian, Esq., Strengthening Legal Protections for Women in Conflict
• Dr. Nyree Derderian, PhD, ARS Initiatives in Conflict Zones
Dr. Hagopjian, representing ALC, also contributed to another critical discussion at CSW69, participating as a panelist in the session “Words from the Ground: Peacebuilding and the Need for Action on Women and Armed Conflict,” organized by Oxfam. His expertise in legal protections for women in conflict zones underscored the importance of international accountability and advocacy for women affected by war and displacement.
Through these initiatives, ALC reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness and demanding concrete action from the international community to safeguard the rights of Armenian women facing conflict and displacement. By bringing their voices to the global stage, ALC continues to push for justice and sustainable solutions for those affected in Artsakh, Lebanon, Syria, and beyond.
