Family of the Late Community Benefactor Continues Legacy of Youth Empowerment through Major Donation for ANCA Telethon 2014
WASHINGTON—On the occasion of ANCA Telethon 2014, the family of the late community leader and philanthropist Martha Aramian announced a major financial donation to be used for the purchase of a new building in Washington, to be known as the Martha Aramian Cultural Center. This building will be a permanent home for the Capital Gateway Program, whose mission is to attract and support recent university graduates who are interested in coming to the nation’s capital to begin careers in government, media and public policy. The Gateway fellows receive free housing and professional support as they pursue these careers.
The Aramian family of Providence, Rhode Island has long been among the most generous benefactors of ANCA programs as well as of charitable projects in the Armenian homeland and the Diaspora. Their parents, Kazar and Nevart, were Genocide survivors who came to this country and committed themselves and their daughters to remember and honor their heritage and culture.
As a consequence, the Aramian family demonstrated that commitment by having been the prime donor to the ANCA’s Armenian Cause 2.0 Conference in 2010. They also provided support for the Aramian Conference room, located on the fourth floor of the ANCA’s national headquarters, and numerous educational programs for young Armenian American women. The Aramians have also funded, in Martha’s name, a series of Capitol Hill programs on Armenian issues.
The ANCA Eastern Region’s Vahan Cardashian Award was granted to Martha Aramian in 2008, during a New York City banquet that also honored noted human right activist, and now U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power. Martha was the recipient of the Armenian Prelacy’s highest honor, the Queen Zabel Award. Martha’s benevolent reach extended across the Armenian world to include the establishment of a child care center, senior center, and youth camp in Vanadzor, Armenia, a city devastated by the 1988 earthquake . In her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, she conceptualized and developed the Armenian Heritage Park, as a permanent memorial testifying to the strength and courage of Armenian immigrants to this country, which she later deeded to the city.

Established through a generous donation from the Cafesjian Family Foundation, the Capital Gateway Program, over the years, has benefited tremendously from the generosity of donors committed to creating public service opportunities for young Armenian Americans. A leading financial contributor to the Program has been the family of Hovig Apo Saghdejian, a 23-year old youth leader and community activist from Fresno, California, who lost his life in 2004 in a tragic car accident. His family generously established the Hovig Apo Saghdejian Memorial Fund in his memory. Substantial support has also been provided by longtime ANCA benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Barbara Hekimian and the Armenian American Veterans Post of Milford, Massachusetts (AAVO).

Մարթա Արամեանի Անուան Հայ Դատի Նոր Կեդրոն՝ Ուաշինկթընի Մէջ
ՈՒԱՇԻՆԿԹԸՆ.- Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին Յունիս 1ի պատկերասփռուելիք դրամահաւաքին՝ թելեթոնին առիթով, հանգուցեալ բարերար եւ համայնքային ղեկավար Մարթա Արամեանի ընտանիքը որոշած է կատարել յատկանշական նուիրատուութիւն մը, որուն շնորհիւ կարելի պիտի ըլլայ մայրաքաղաք Ուաշինկթընի մէջ գնել շէնք մը՝ զայն յատկացնելու համար Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի «Քեփիթըլ Կէյթուէյ» վարժողական ծրագիրին:
«Մարթա Արամեան» մշակութային կեդրոն կոչուելիք շէնքը մնայուն կեդրոնը պիտի ըլլայ նշեալ վարժողական ծրագիրին մասնակցող ուսանողներուն, որոնք Ուաշինկթըն կու գան՝ զիրենք քաղաքական, լրատուական կամ հանրային սպասարկութեան ասպարէզներ առաջնորդող ճամբուն վրայ առաջին քայլերը առնելու համար:
Ռոտ Այլընտ նահանգի Փրովիտընս քաղաքին մէջ հաստատուած Արամեան ընտանիքը տարիներով հանդիսացած է Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատ յանձնախումբին զանազան ծրագիրներու առատաձեռն նուիրատուներէն մէկը, միաժամանակ՝ ձեռք երկարելով Հայաստանի եւ Սփիւռքի զանազան շրջաններու մէջ իրականացուող մարդասիրական նախաձեռնութեանց: Ընտանիքը ժառանգորդն է Հայկական Ցեղասպանութենէն վերապրած Ղազարին եւ Նուարդին, որոնք Միացեալ Նահանգներ հաստատուելէ ետք՝ յատուկ ջանք թափած են իրենց զաւակներուն մօտ հայութեան եւ հայ մշակոյթին նկատմամբ սէրը միշտ վառ պահելու համար:
Այս պատճառով, Արամեան ընտանիքը հովանաւորը հանդիսացած է 2011ին կայացած Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի «Հայկական Հարց 2.0» խորհրդաժողովին ու գումարներ յատկացուցած է Ուաշինկթընի մէջ Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի կեդրոնատեղիի չորրորդ յարկին վրայ «Արամեան» խորհրդաժողովի սրահը մէջտեղ բերելու համար, միաժամանակ՝ գումարներ յատկացնելով հայ երիտասարդուհիներու կրթական ծրագիրներուն եւ Քոնկրեսի շէնքին մէջ Հայկական Հարցին առնչուող քաղաքական հաւաքներ իրականացնելու նպատակին:
Արեւելեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի «Վահան Քարտաշեան» անուան մրցանակը 2008ին շնորհուած էր Մարթա Արամեանին: Ան արժանացած է նաեւ Արեւելեան թեմի Ազգ. առաջնորդարանի «Զապէլ Թագուհի» մրցանակին:
Մարթա Արամեանի աջակցութեամբ, Հայաստանի Վանաձոր քաղաքին մէջ կարելի եղած է հաստատել երեխաներու, տարեցներու եւ երիտասարդներու յատուկ կեդրոններ, իսկ Փրովիտընսի մէջ, ան իրականացուցած է Հայկական ժառանգութեան զբօսայգի մը կառուցելու ծրագիրը՝ զայն նուիրելով քաղաքին:
«Մեր ընտանիքը ուրախ է, որ այս ապրող ժառանգը կը շնորհէ ի յիշատակ մեր սիրելի քրոջ՝ Մարթայի յիշատակին», կը յայտնեն Սու Արամեան եւ Մարկօ Արամեան-Ռական: «Վստահաբար «Մարթա Արամեան» մշակութային կեդրոնը պիտի դառնայ մեր երկրի մայրաքաղաքին մէջ սիրելի տուն մը՝ ամերիկահայ երիտասարդութեան համար: Հոն կարելի պիտի ըլլայ մեր արմատներուն աւելի մօտէն ծանօթանալ եւ նոր բարեկամութիւններ հաստատել», կ՛աւելցնեն անոնք:
«Պատուըւած կը զգանք Արամեան ընտանիքին ցուցաբերած իսկապէս յատկանշական աջակցութեամբ եւ կը գնահատենք անոնց տեսլականը եւ նուիրումը մեր Դատին, մեր մշակոյթին եւ յատկապէս՝ մեր երիտասարդութեան: «Մարթա Արամեան» մշակութային կեդրոնը պիտի դառնայ Մարթայի յիշատակին նուիրուած արժէքաւոր յուշարձան մը՝ նեցուկ կանգնելով մայրաքաղաք Ուաշինկթընի մէջ բարձունքներ գրաւելու իղձերով լեցուն երիտասարդ հայորդիներուն», կը յայտնէ Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի հիմնադրամի ատենապետ Քեն Խաչիկեան:
Նաեւ նշենք, որ «Քաֆէյսճեան» ընտանիքի հիմնարկին առատաձեռն նուիրատուութեամբ հաստատուած «Քեփիթըլ Կէյթուէյ» վարժողական ծրագիրը տարիներէ ի վեր արժէքաւոր սպասարկութիւններ մատուցած է հայ երիտասարդներու: Ծրագիրին յատկանշական օժանդակութիւն ցուցաբերած է նաեւ 2004ին Ֆրեզնոյի մէջ 24 տարեկան հասակին՝ ինքնաշարժի արկածով մահացած երիտասարդ գործիչ Յովիկ Աբօ Սաղտճեանի ընտանիքը, որ հաստատեց Յովիկ Աբօ Սաղտճեանի յիշատակի հիմնադրամը: Արժէքաւոր աջակցութիւն տրամադրած են նաեւ Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի երկարամեայ բարերարներ տէր եւ տիկ. Ֆրենք եւ Պարպարա Հեքիմեաններն ու Մեսեչուսեց նահանգի Միլֆըրտ քաղաքի Ամերիկահայ վեթերաններու միութիւնը:
