(Armenia Online) YEREVAN: Prominent Armenian-Australian community member, Greg Soghomonian has been awarded the Gratitude Medal by the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan at an awards ceremony on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Armenia’s independence in Yerevan.
Soghomonian, who is the current Honorary Chairman of the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC Australia) was acknowledged for his corporate career achievements as a former Executive at Honeywell, as well as his leadership in the Diaspora communities of Singapore and Australia.
In Singapore, Soghomonian was a key figure in the successful attempt to preserve the country’s first Christian church, which happened to be the local Armenian Apostolic Church.
In Australia, ANC Australia has registered many successes under his leadership, headlined by the recognition of the Republic of Nagoro Karabakh by the country’s largest state of New South Wales, as well as the visit of a delegation of Australian politicians to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.
Soghomonian said: “I am humbled by this award and for the honour of being acknowledged. Serving our nation is always a priority for me, regardless of any recognition. It is the duty of all Armenians to contribute with our best possible efforts.”
