The Merrimack Valley Armenian National Committee (ANC) recently met with Congresswoman Niki Tsongas of the 3rd Congressional District of Massachusetts to discuss a wide range of issues and to express the community’s continued gratitude for her service as a member of the Armenian Caucus.
ANC members asked Congresswoman Tsongas for her active support in securing foreign aid to Nagorno-Karabagh, Armenia, and the Armenian Samtskhe-Javakheti community in Georgia; humanitarian aid to Armenian, Assyrian, and other at-risk minorities in Syria; and withholding U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan until it agrees with the OSCE Minsk Group’s call to renounce violence and commits to a purely peaceful resolution of regional conflicts. A special request was made for Tsongas to attend the Capitol Hill Observance of the Armenian Genocide.
“We were most pleased with Congresswoman Tsongas’s attention to these issues, and regard her as a strong advocate, ” said Ara Jeknavorian, co-chair of the Merrimack Valley ANC.
