(September 21, 2016) Ottawa \u2013 Today, September 21st marks the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Armenians in Canada and across the globe will celebrate this important milestone for a new republic and an ancient nation. <\/p>\n

Over the past quarter century, Armenia has continued to develop its democratic institutions, its social structures, its economy and its foreign relations, as evidenced by membership in over 40 international organizations.<\/p>\n

From its first days of independence Armenia has received the unwavering support of Canada and Canadians, through high-level exchanges, business investment, bilateral exchanges, and person-to-person connections.<\/p>\n

On Monday, September 19 2016, the Armenian National Committee of Canada<\/a> (ANCC) hosted a Reception on Parliament Hill, where over 50 Ministers, Members of Parliament, Senators and staff were gathered to celebrate this milestone.<\/p>\n

During the event, following opening remarks delivered by the ANCC, MP Harold Albrecht (Former Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group), MP Arnold Chan (Current Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group), MP Alexandre Boulerice (Vice Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group) and His Excellency Armen Yeganian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Canada offered their congratulatory messages.<\/p>\n

A special speech was delivered in both French and English by Syrian-Armenian student, Karen Seraydarian, who settled in Canada two years ago and is now a senior student at Montreal\u2019s Sourp Hagop Armenian School. After speaking about her family\u2019s experience fleeing the Syrian Civil War, she expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada for giving her family and thousands of other families the opportunity to settle in Canada.<\/p>\n

The ANCC is the largest and the most influential Canadian-Armenian grassroots human rights organization. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout Canada and affiliated organizations around the world, the ANCC actively advances the concerns of the Canadian-Armenian community on a broad range of issues and works to eliminate abuses of human rights throughout Canada and the world.<\/p>\n

Ottawa \u2013 Le 21 septembre 2016, marque le 25e anniversaire de l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance de la R\u00e9publique d\u2019Arm\u00e9nie. Les Arm\u00e9niens du Canada et du monde entier f\u00eateront collectivement ce jalon historique pour une jeune r\u00e9publique mais une nation mill\u00e9naire.<\/p>\n

D\u00e8s les premiers jours, le Canada et les Canadiens ont soutenu la jeune r\u00e9publique \u00e0 travers des \u00e9changes de haut niveau, des investissements dans le milieu des affaires, des \u00e9changes bilat\u00e9raux et des contacts sur le terrain.<\/p>\n

Depuis un quart de si\u00e8cle, l\u2019Arm\u00e9nie d\u00e9veloppe sans cesse ses institutions d\u00e9mocratiques, sociales \u00e9conomiques ainsi ses relations \u00e9trang\u00e8res en adh\u00e9rant \u00e0 plus de 40 organisations internationales.<\/p>\n

Le 19 septembre dernier, le Comit\u00e9 national arm\u00e9nien du Canada (CNAC) a marqu\u00e9 le coup en organisant une r\u00e9ception o\u00f9 une cinquantaine d\u2019\u00e9lus et adjoint(e)s sont venus c\u00e9l\u00e9brer ce moment historique. Faisant suite au mot de bienvenue du CNAC, ancien et actuel pr\u00e9sidents du Groupe parlementaire d\u2019amiti\u00e9 Canada-Arm\u00e9nie, respectivement les d\u00e9put\u00e9s Harold Albrecht, Arnold Chan, ainsi que son vice-pr\u00e9sident, Alexandre Boulerice ont transmis les messages de f\u00e9licitations de leur partis respectifs. Son Excellence Armen Yeganian, ambassadeur de la r\u00e9publique arm\u00e9nienne a remerci\u00e9 les Canadiens pour l\u2019excellente relation entretenue entre les deux pays.<\/p>\n

Un mot de remerciement tout particulier a \u00e9t\u00e9 transmis en Anglais et Fran\u00e7ais par une jeune \u00e9tudiante de l\u2019\u00c9cole arm\u00e9nienne Sourp Hagop, Karen Seraydarian, qui depuis deux ans est au Canada depuis la Syrie. Elle a parl\u00e9 de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de sa famille et a remerci\u00e9 le gouvernement du Canada pour l\u2019ouverture dont elle a fait preuve. Un moment qui a particuli\u00e8rement touch\u00e9 tous les participants.<\/p>\n
