Kabinet tikt Azerbeidzjan op de vingers <\/strong><\/p>\n

(bnr.nl) SP-Kamerlid Harry van Bommel mag zich aanstaande zaterdag niet uitlaten over een niet erkende regio in Azerbeidzjan. Dat wil althans de ambassadeur van Azerbeidzjan, maar het Kamerlid laat zich niet zomaar de mond snoeren.
\nDe ambassadeur probeerde te voorkomen dat Van Bommel zou spreken over de separatistische enclave Nagorno-Karabach tijdens een seminar aan de Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. De ambassadeur stuurde een brief naar de Tweede Kamer en het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, waarin hij oproept te protesteren tegen Van Bommels bijdrage.
\nVan Bommel, die de regio eerder dit jaar bezocht, vertelt komende zaterdag over zijn reis. Volgens de ambassadeur is de regio niet erkend als onafhankelijk land, schrijft ANP. De ambassadeur is vooral boos dat een Tweede Kamerlid daarover gaat spreken. “Azerbeidzjan voelt zich ongemakkelijk omdat de regering niet wil dat Nagorno-Karabach aan de orde wordt gesteld. Ze zien dat als steun voor de mensen die daar wonen”, zegt Van Bommel.<\/p>\n

Norm stellen<\/strong>
\nVan Bommel vindt de brief “hoogst opmerkelijk en duidelijk politiek intimiderend’, laat hij weten aan persbureau ANP. Volgens hem gaat het er niet om of hij de onafhankelijkheid van het land wel of niet zou steunen. Van Bommel wil dat minister Ploumen (Buitenlandse Handel en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking) een norm stelt: “Over politieke onderwerpen mag iedereen alles bespreken. De minister zou er verstandig aan doen dat nog eens uit te leggen aan de ambassadeur van Azerbeidzjan.”<\/p>\n

Minister Ploumen laat weten dat in Nederland “vrij gesproken mag worden, en dat de ambassadeur daar ook wat van mag vinden.” Volgens Ploumen krijgt de ambassadeur antwoord van de Kamer en het kabinet.<\/p>\n
