The delegation in its visit is accompanied by <!--more Continue reading \/ \u0531\u0574\u0562\u0578\u0572\u057b\u0568 \u2192--> <!--more Continue reading \/ \u0531\u0574\u0562\u0578\u0572\u057b\u0568 \u2192--> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eafjd.eu\/eafjd-accompanies-kingdom-of-belgium-deputies-to-armenia-and-nagorno-karabakh.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy<\/a> (EAFJD) President Kaspar Karampetian, EAFJD EU Affairs Officer Heghine Evinyan, and Armenian National Committee of Belgium member, Robert Invijajev.<br \/>\nThe delegation consisting of Parliamentarians from different factions of the Belgian political spectrum, visited the Republic of Armenia National Assembly and held various meetings. They first met the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of RoA National Assembly, Chairman of the Armenian delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, Artak Zakaryan. The topics discussed were the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, its change of course since 2013, since Armenia decided to join the Eurasian Economic Union. Mr. Zakaryan emphasized the determination of Armenia to continue the close cooperation with the European Union. He assured that in terms of democracy and state-building Europe as well as the values it stands for, are the examples to follow for Armenia. The discussion also focused on the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later, the French-speaking members of the Belgian Parliamentary delegation met the members of the Armenian Delegation at the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly. Margarit Yesayan, Head of the Armenian Delegation, welcomed the guests. In the meantime, Dutch-speaking Mr. Karim Van Overmeire was welcomed by the rector, vice rector of the Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, as well as students, majoring in political science, international relations and Dutch philology. The Q&amp;A session which was partly in Dutch focused on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Belgium and the Armenian community in Belgium and in particular in Flanders. At the end of the meeting Mr. Van Overmeire visited the center of Dutch studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Members of the delegation also met and had lively exchange of views with the representatives of all Armenian political parties represented in the National Assembly. Among other critical issues the constitutional reform in Armenia was discussed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The last meeting scheduled in the Armenian Parliament was with the President of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan, who welcomed the Belgian delegation and highlighted the interaction and dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He also welcomed the establishment of the Friendship Group with Armenia by the Belgian deputies, representatives from the Belgian Parliament to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He stressed the fact that in the Armenian parliament the Armenia-Belgium Friendship Group has been functioning for a long time, and expressed confidence that the Friendship Groups\u2019 activity will best serve to the deepening of the Armenian-Belgian ties. Galust Sahakyan touching upon the fact that the delegation\u2019s visit takes place within the framework of the 100th year of the Armenian Genocide, expressed his gratitude for the adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide in July of this year by the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Belgium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The MPs also had a meeting with civil society organizations. They met representatives of the think tank International Centre for Human Development (ICHD), including its executive director Armen Galstyan. The questions raised concerned among other things the dynamics of the relations between the RoA Government and the civil society, the mechanisms of putting issues on the political agenda as well as the current most pressing issues of the Armenian society. At the end of the day the Belgian deputies met Dr. Stepan Grigoryan, director of Analytical Centre on Globalization and Regional Cooperation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the second day of their visit, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Giro Manoyan, member of the ARF \u2013 Dashnaktsutyun Bureau, director of the international secretariat; the pros and cons of the constitutional reform in Armenia were discussed The Belgian deputies also met former member of the Armenian Parliament, and now representative of \u201cOgnir Yeghport\u201d NGO Lilit Galstyan, which focuses on the issues of Syrian-Armenian refugees in Armenia. Possibilities of alleviating the difficult situation of the refugees and supporting them were discussed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Later on, the delegation visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial complex \u2013 Tsitsernakaberd \u2013 and paid homage to the victims of the Armenia Genocide. The deputies gained further insight into the details of the history at the Armenian Genocide Museum \u2013 Institute.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The next stop was the Mother See of Holy Etchmiatdzin, center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The delegates had an exchange of views with Archbishop Nathan, in charge of external relations affairs of the Armenia Apostolic Church. The Armenian President expressed his gratitude to the Belgian Deputies, for their and their Chamber\u2019s role in adopting the resolution on the Armenian Genocide. Other issues discussed were the relations between Armenia and Belgium, parliamentary cooperation, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict\u2019s peaceful solution. Special attention was paid to parliamentary ties, cultural and humanitarian spheres.<br \/>\nPresident Sahakyan noted that Artsakh was interested in deepening cooperation with Belgium and its Kingdom of Belgium. Welcoming the members of the Belgian Delegation in the Parliament, the NA President highlighted the interaction and dialogue development between the legislative bodies of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Galust Sahakyan welcomed the establishment of the Friendship Group with Armenia by the Belgian deputies, representatives from the Belgian Parliament to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Documenting that in our parliament the Armenia-Belgium Friendship Group has been functioning for a long time, the NA President has expressed confidence that the activation of the Friendship Groups\u2019 activity will best serve to the deepening of the Armenian-Belgian friendship and development of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Touching upon the fact that the delegation\u2019s visit takes place within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the NA President has noted that on 24 April 2015 the whole progressive humanity marked the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the NA President, we should continue the struggle for the restoration of the historical truth, and achieve the result that all the countries recognize and condemn the Genocide, so that it is never repeated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this context Galust Sahakyan expressed satisfaction with the adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide in July of this year by the House of Representatives of Belgium by which the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Belgium had been completed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NA President has noted that he is aware of the efforts made by the members of the delegation in the adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Touching upon the forthcoming visit of the delegation to Artsakh Galust Sahakyan highlighted such visits in terms of the solution process of the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the comprehensive awareness of the conflict background and sharing the received impressions with the colleagues. In the NA President\u2019s word, these visits neutralize the informative isolation of Artsakh and make audible the Artsakh people\u2019s voice in Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Galust Sahakyan has noted the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has no alternative: the only fair way of the comprehensive settlement of the conflict is the execution of the right of self-determination of the Artsakh people. Parliament<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(parliament.am) On September 7 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with the Parliamentary Delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Welcoming the guests, Artak Zakaryan has noted that the RA National Assembly has good relations with the Belgian Parliament. The active works of Armenia with Brussels has also been highlighted. The Committee Chairman expressed his satisfaction to the two Chambers of the Belgian Parliament for the adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide and noted that both the parliament and the executive powers of Belgium has always shown humanistic attitude towards boosting the human rights and the peoples\u2019 free and equal fight, as well as fight against genocides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting at the Belgian parliamentarians\u2019 request Artak Zakaryan touched upon the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict and in that process the role of the OSCE Minsk Group, the existing situation in the NKR-Azerbaijan line of contact, Armenia-Turkey close borders, the RA-EU cooperation and the existing situation in the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the same day the Parliamentary Delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium also met with the members of the RA NA Delegation at the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly. Margarit Yesayan, Head of the Delegation, the NA deputy, welcoming the guests expressed hope that the members of the delegation will leave Armenia more aware of its problems. Margarit Yesayan has highly assessed the decision of the members of the delegation on visiting Nagorno Karabakh and has noted that the European colleagues\u2019 attitude on the NK problem is very important. The deputy has stated with pain that at this moment military actions by Azerbaijan are exercised not only on the border of Nagorno Karabakh, but also in some borderline regions of Armenia.
