(Prensa Armenia) El 21 de julio, el gobernador de R\u00edo de Janeiro, Luiz Fernando Pez\u00e3o, promulg\u00f3 la Ley 7046\/2015<\/a> del diputado Jorge Picciani, presidente de la Asamblea Legislativa del Estado de R\u00edo de Janeiro, que instaura todos los 24 de abril en R\u00edo como el “D\u00eda de Reconocimiento y Memoria de las V\u00edctimas del Genocidio Armenio” en el calendario oficial.<\/p>\n

R\u00edo de Janeiro es el cuarto Estado en Brasil en reconocer el Genocidio, junto con Paran\u00e1, Cear\u00e1 y S\u00e3o Paulo. Meses atr\u00e1s, el Senado brasile\u00f1o hab\u00eda aprobado un voto de solidaridad con el pueblo armenio por el centenario del crimen de lesa humanidad.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan inform\u00f3 a Prensa Armenia James Onnig Tamdjian, director de Relaciones Pol\u00edticas e Internacionales del Consejo Nacional Armenio de Brasil<\/a>, “las comunidades armenias de S\u00e3o Paulo y Osasco siempre jugaron un papel clave en las declaraciones de las autoridades locales a favor de los reclamos armenios”.<\/p>\n

“En otras comunidades armenias del Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo, como la ciudad de S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto, ya existen declaraciones de solidaridad del poder legislativo local con el pueblo armenio. La presencia de las familias de origen armenio en otros Estados como Cear\u00e1 y Paran\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n fue fundamental para que los l\u00edderes pol\u00edticos se sumaran a la causa”, inform\u00f3, adem\u00e1s de recordar el reconocimiento por parte del Senado Federal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“En el caso del Estado de R\u00edo de Janeiro la iniciativa parti\u00f3 del presidente del Clube de Engenharia (Club de Ingenier\u00eda), Francis Bogossian, hijo de uno de los sobrevivientes del Genocidio, Jacob Bogossian, miembro activo de la comunidad armenia de esa ciudad que durante d\u00e9cadas luch\u00f3 para el mantenimiento de la historia armenia”, a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/p>\n

El Clube de Engenharia<\/a> es una organizaci\u00f3n fundada en 1880 y que hoy funciona como un “think tank” y participa de los debates del desarrollo nacional. El 22 de mayo, Francis Bogossian envi\u00f3 una carta<\/a> oficial al Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Mauro Luiz Vieira Iecker, transmitiendo el posicionamiento de la junta directiva del Clube para apoyar la Causa Armenia y pedir que Brasil reconozca oficialmente la masacre del pueblo armenio como un genocidio.<\/p>\n

A ra\u00edz de estas gestiones, el diputado Jorge Picciani present\u00f3 el proyecto de ley en enero, proyecto que fue aprobado la semana pasada. La resoluci\u00f3n de Picciani se\u00f1ala que “el 24 de abril de 1915, decenas de l\u00edderes armenios fueron arrestados y asesinados en Estambul. La masacre tuvo como objetivo exterminar al pueblo armenio y se caracteriz\u00f3 por la brutalidad y el uso de marchas forzadas con deportaciones que muchas veces llevaron a la muerte”.<\/p>\n

“Una veintena de pa\u00edses reconocen el genocidio del pueblo armenio, pero el gobierno turco niega que las muertes fueron intencionales”, finaliza la resoluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

The Story of the Armenian Genocide Recognition by Rio de Janeiro<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Prensa Armenia) On July 21, the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Fernando Pez\u00e3o, enacted Law 7046\/2015 filed by Deputy Jorge Picciani, president of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, which establishes all April 24 in Rio as the “Day of Recognition and Memory of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide” in the official calendar.<\/p>\n

Rio de Janeiro is the fourth State in Brazil that recognizes the Genocide, along with Parana, Ceara and S\u00e3o Paulo. Months ago, the Brazilian Senate passed a vote of solidarity with the Armenian people for the centenary of crime against humanity.<\/p>\n

James Onnig Tamdjian, Director of Politics and International Relations of the Armenian National Committee of Brazil, told Prensa Armenia that “the Armenian communities of S\u00e3o Paulo and Osasco always played a key role in the statements of local authorities in favor of Armenian claims.”<\/p>\n

“In other Armenian communities of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, such as the city of S\u00e3o Jose do Rio Preto, there are declarations of solidarity of the local legislatures with the Armenian people. The presence of Armenian families in other states such as Ceara and Parana was also important for political leaders to join in the cause,” he said, recalling the recognition by the Federal Senate.<\/p>\n

“In the case of Rio de Janeiro the initiative came from the president of the Clube de Engenharia (Engineering Club) Francis Bogossian, son of one of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide, Jacob Bogossian, active member of the Armenian community in that city that fought for decades for the maintenance of Armenian history,” he added.<\/p>\n

Clube de Engenharia is an organization founded in 1880 and now works as a “think tank” and participates in discussions of national development. On May 22, Francis Bogossian sent an official letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Luiz Vieira Iecker, transmitting the position of the board of the Clube to support the Armenian Cause and calling for Brazil to officially recognize the slaughter of the Armenian people as genocide.<\/p>\n

Following these steps, Deputy Jorge Picciani introduced the bill in January, a project that was approved last week. The resolution of Picciani notes that “on April 24, 1915, dozens of Armenian leaders were arrested and killed in Istanbul. The slaughter was aimed to exterminate the Armenian people and characterized by the brutality and the use of forced marches with deportations that often led to death.”<\/p>\n

“More than twenty countries recognize the genocide of the Armenian people, but the Turkish government denies that the deaths were intentional,” concludes the resolution.<\/p>\n

No Brasil, as comunidades arm\u00eanias de S\u00e3o Paulo e Osasco, majorit\u00e1rias, sempre tiveram papel fundamental nas declara\u00e7\u00f5es dos poderes locais a favor das reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es arm\u00eanias. Este ano por exemplo a Assembleia Legislativa do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo e a C\u00e2mara Municipal da Cidade de S\u00e3o Paulo publicaram leis que ratificam o compromisso com o reconhecimento.<\/p>\n

Em outras comunidades arm\u00eanias do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo como S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto j\u00e1 existem mo\u00e7\u00f5es e declara\u00e7\u00f5es dos legislativos locais expressando a solidariedade ao povo arm\u00eanio. A presen\u00e7a de fam\u00edlias de origem arm\u00eania em outros estados como o Cear\u00e1 e Paran\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m foi fundamental para que expressivas lideran\u00e7as do tamb\u00e9m se somassem a luta centen\u00e1ria.<\/p>\n

No caso do Estado do Rio de Janeiro a iniciativa partiu do Presidente Clube de Engenharia<\/a>, Sr. Francis Bogossian, filho de um dos sobreviventes do genoc\u00eddio, Jacob Bogossian, membro ativo da comunidade arm\u00eania daquela cidade que durante d\u00e9cadas lutou pela manuten\u00e7\u00e3o da hist\u00f3ria arm\u00eania.<\/p>\n
