Supported by People Before Profit, Solidarity, Sinn F\u00e9in, the Social Democrats and the Labour Party, the motion highlights that the Turkish government\u2019s persistent refusal to recognize the 1915 genocide not only prevents it from reconciling with its own past but also hinders its path toward true democratization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its call to action, the motion urges the Irish Government to fully participate in the 110th commemoration to honor the 1.5 million victims. It also calls upon other governments worldwide to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Lastly, the motion advocates for the Armenian Genocide to be taught in schools in its true historical context and proposes the establishment of an international Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian welcomed this development and called on the Irish Parliament to quickly adopt the motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis motion clearly identifies that the Recognition of the crime of Genocide is a necessary step to prevent future atrocities and an undeniable right of the Armenian people to demand justice for their ancestors.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2013 stated Karampetian.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A cross-party motion to recognize the Armenian Genocide has been introduced in the&nbsp;D\u00e1il \u00c9ireann,&nbsp;the lower house of the bicameral Irish Parliament (the&nbsp;Oireachtas).
