El Dr. Eugenio Zaffaroni comenz\u00f3 hablando del contexto hist\u00f3rico del genocidio, cuando &#8220;los armenios quedaron solos, nadie los defendi\u00f3, porque no le conven\u00eda a los intereses de ninguna de las potencias en ese momento&#8221;. &#8220;Se reiterar\u00e1 muchas veces la mezquindad y la negaci\u00f3n respecto de cr\u00edmenes de Estado horripilantes en raz\u00f3n de conveniencias coyunturales&#8221;, continu\u00f3. &#8220;Hasta en la misma definici\u00f3n del tratado de genocidio, una definici\u00f3n mezquina y cuidadosamente recortada para que no entren los genocidios neocolonialistas, Hiroshima y Nagasaki, los desplazamientos stalineanos, casi como una caricatura del Holocausto nazista. Y eso gener\u00f3 que a lo largo de las d\u00e9cadas posteriores, cada vez que hay un genocidio se discuta si es un genocidio. Mezquindad de la pol\u00edtica&#8221;. Pedro Mouratian habl\u00f3 del derecho a la verdad, que abre el camino al reconocimiento y a la reparaci\u00f3n, descalificando de alguna manera a la pretendida comisi\u00f3n de historiadores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El panel del historiador Richard Hovannisian, moderado por el profesor de la Universidad de San Andr\u00e9s, Khatchik Der Ghougassian, comenz\u00f3 haciendo una distinci\u00f3n entre los documentos oficiales, que el gobierno de Turqu\u00eda utilizaba como prueba de que no hubo un plan genocida, y los documentos secretos, que conten\u00edan las \u00f3rdenes genocidas reales. &#8220;Uno de los factores del genocidio es crear documentos falsos&#8221;, detall\u00f3. &#8220;El negacionismo no es el &#8216;\u00faltimo rostro del negacionismo&#8217;, sino el primero&#8221;, expres\u00f3 Hovannisian, en relaci\u00f3n a esta idea de mentiras previas a los cr\u00edmenes. Por \u00faltimo, explic\u00f3 la actual estrategia negacionista del estado turco para el centenario del genocidio: presentar el 1915 como el aniversario de la resistencia de Gallipoli y no como el aniversario del genocidio. En este marco, destac\u00f3 la importancia de los historiadores turcos que estudian el genocidio, quienes podr\u00e1n reconstruir las &#8220;microhistorias&#8221; que ocurrieron entre las matanzas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gabriel Sivinian, de la Facultad de Filosof\u00eda y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) hizo un recorrido hist\u00f3rico sobre el contexto y las causas estructurales que permitieron a las clases dominantes llevar a cabo el genocidio, haciendo un paralelismo con otros genocidios. El historiador Heitor Loureiro relat\u00f3 la historia de la comunidad armenia en Brasil, reconstruida a partir de distintas fuentes hist\u00f3ricas, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n las luchas de la comunidad en el inmediato post genocidio. Naira Meliksetyan, del Museo Instituto del Genocidio Armenio en Erev\u00e1n, hizo un an\u00e1lisis de la ley de deportaci\u00f3n y explic\u00f3 c\u00f3mo se implementaba antes de que se adoptara la legislaci\u00f3n, prueba de que exist\u00eda un plan genocida previo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El panel de ense\u00f1anza del genocidio armenio en las escuelas disert\u00f3 acercade las distintas formas de transmitir y formar a los j\u00f3venes a partir del trabajo en derechos humanos. Las docentes Julieta Puppo y Ver\u00f3nica Kovacic reflexionaron sobre la novela &#8220;Los 40 d\u00edas de Musa Dagh&#8221; de Franz Werfel, Mar\u00eda Florencia Di Matteo y Greta Kalaidjian de la FLH hablaron sobre su experiencia en las aulas con estos temas y Carolina Karagueuzian, del CNA, present\u00f3 el plan educativo &#8220;De un 24 a otro 24&#8221;, que aborda la perspectiva de la ense\u00f1anza del genocidio armenio en paralelo con el genocidio que llev\u00f3 a cabo la \u00faltima dictadura militar argentina.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Gaunt, de la Universidad de S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn, Suecia, relat\u00f3 la experiencia del genocidio contra los asirios, paralelo al genocidio armenio, haciendo hincapi\u00e9 en la necesidad de que surjan nuevos trabajos sobre el tema y planteando que ellos podr\u00edan seguir los pasos y pedir ayuda a los armenios para desarrollar los estudios.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alexis Papazian y Federico Gait\u00e1n Hairabedian, ambos de la FLH, hablaron sobre el genocidio a los pueblos ind\u00edgenas y sobre el fallo &#8220;Perin\u00e7ek v. Suiza&#8221; respectivamente, mientras que Juan Karagueuzian, del CNA, present\u00f3 la pel\u00edcula &#8220;Los tatuajes de mi abuela&#8221;, de Suzanne Khardalian, para analizar las cuestiones de g\u00e9nero dentro del genocidio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Posteriormente, el historiador Juan Pablo Artinian describi\u00f3 las diversas formas de resistencia de los discursos y las representaciones, el Dr. Carlos Antaramian present\u00f3 el m\u00e9todo usado actualmente por Azerbaiy\u00e1n en M\u00e9xico para endilgar un crimen con el fin negar el genocidio armenio, como una nueva forma de presentar a las v\u00edctimas como victimarios. Por \u00faltimo, Mehmet Polatel, de la Universidad Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i en Turqu\u00eda, present\u00f3 un detallado informe acerca de los bienes confiscados por el Estado y apropiados por los particulares turcos a las familias armenias v\u00edctimas del genocidio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">PRENSA ARMENIA<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">International Congress on Armenian Genocide held in Buenos Aires<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a title=\"The University of Tres de Febrero in Argentina launches an International Congress on Armenian Genocide \" href=\"http:\/\/www.prensaarmenia.com.ar\/2014\/04\/the-university-of-tres-de-febrero-in.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Congress on Armenian Genocide was held in Buenos Aires<\/a> from April 9 to 11. The event was organized by the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF), the Center of Studies of Genocide and the Memory of Armenian Genocide Foundation, with the collaboration of the <a title=\"CNA de Sudam\u00e9rica\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cna.org.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armenian National Committee of South America<\/a> (CNA) and Luisa Hairabedian Foundation (FLH) and the sponsorship of Armenian Embassy in Argentina and the Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Argentina.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The opening featured important personalities like Chancellor of UNTREF Anibal Jozami, Director of the National Institute Against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism Pedro Mouratian, Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice Eugenio Zaffaroni, President of the General Audit Office Leandro Despouy and Director of Center of Studies of Genocide Daniel Feierstein, along with Nelida Bulgourdjian, coordinator of the Congress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anibal Jozami spoke about memory as a tool to &#8220;rebuild social bonds&#8221; after a genocide, while Leandro Despouy recalled his work in 1985 to promote the recognition of the Armenian Genocide at the United Nations. Dr. Eugenio Zaffaroni talked about the historical context of the genocide, when &#8220;the Armenians were left alone, no one defended them because it did not suit the interests of any of the powers at that time.&#8221; &#8220;It is often repeated the pettiness and denial of gruesome State crimes because of circumstantial conveniences&#8221;, he continued. &#8220;Even the very definition of genocide, a petty definition and carefully trimmed to keep out neo-colonialist genocides, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the displacements organized by Stalin, is almost like a caricature of the Nazi Holocaust. On subsequent decades, every time there was a genocide it was discussed if it was indeed a genocide. Its the meanness of politics&#8221;. Pedro Mouratian spoke of the right to the truth, which opens the way to recognition and repair, somehow disqualifying the alleged commission of historians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The panel of historian Richard Hovannisian, moderated by San Andres University professor Khatchik Der Ghougassian, began by making a distinction between the official documents, that the Turkish government used as evidence that there wasn&#8217;t a genocidal plan, and the secret documents that contained the real genocidal orders. &#8220;One of the factors of genocide is creating false documents&#8221;, he explained. &#8220;Denial is not the &#8216;last face of denial&#8217;, but the first&#8221;, said Hovannisian, in relation to this idea of the lies before the crimes itself. Finally, he explained the current state of the Turkish denialist strategy for the centennial anniversary: to present the 1915 as the anniversary of the Gallipoli resistance and not as the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In this context, he stressed the importance of Turkish historians who study genocide, who will rebuild the &#8220;micro-histories&#8221; that occurred between the killings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gabriel Sivinian, from the University of Buenos Aires, made a historical overview of the context and the structural causes that allowed the ruling class to carry out the genocide, drawing a parallel with other genocides. Historian Heitor Loureiro told the story of the Armenian community in Brazil, reconstructed from various sources, as well as the struggles of the community in the immediate post genocide. Naira Meliksetyan, from the Institute of the Armenian Genocide Museum in Yerevan, analyzed the deportation law in the Armenian Genocide and explained how deportation was implemented before the law was adopted, proof that there was a pre-genocidal plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The teachers Julieta Puppo and Veronica Kovacic talked about the novel &#8220;The Forty Days of Musa Dagh&#8221; by Franz Werfel, Maria Florencia Di Matteo and Greta Kalaidjian from the FLH talked about their classroom experience with these issues and Carolina Karagueuzian, from the CNA presented the educational project &#8220;From one 24 to another 24&#8221;, which addresses the prospect of teaching the Armenian genocide in parallel with the genocide carried out by Argentina&#8217;s last military dictatorship, that began on March 24, 1976.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Gaunt, from the University of S\u00f6dert\u00f6rn, Sweden, recounted the experience of the genocide against the Assyrians, parallel to the Armenian Genocide, emphasizing the need for further work on the issue and suggesting that they could follow the steps of Armenians and ask for their help to develop these studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alexis Papazian and Federico Gaitan Hairabedian, both from the FLH, spoke about the genocide of the native people on Argentina and the ruling &#8220;Perin\u00e7ek v. Switzerland&#8221; respectively, while Juan Karagueuzian, from the CNA, presented the film &#8220;Grandma&#8217;s Tattoos&#8221; by Suzanne Khardalian to discuss gender issues in the genocide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Subsequently, historian Juan Pablo Artinian described the various forms of resistance of discourses and representations, while Dr. Carlos Antaramian introduced the method currently used by Azerbaijan in Mexico to foist a crime to deny the Armenian Genocide, as a new method to present the victims as victimizers.
