Carlos Luis Hassassian, en representaci\u00f3n de Hamazka\u00edn, dio la bienvenida a los presentes e introdujo a los conferencistas. Luego de las exposiciones, se proyectaron fragmentos del documental \u201cLos armenios en La Merced\u201d dirigido por Antaramian.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-_npy2cEKDE\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nicol\u00e1s Sabuncuyan, director de pol\u00edtica institucional del CNA-Buenos Aires, se refiri\u00f3 a las caracter\u00edsticas del lobby de la Rep\u00fablica de Azerbaiy\u00e1n en el Cono Sur, en el \u00e1mbito pol\u00edtico, educativo y comunicacional. Asimismo, se refiri\u00f3 a los intentos de su embajada de formar cuadros propios, a trav\u00e9s de distintos tipos de incentivos, para instalar su particular visi\u00f3n de la historia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEste lobby no s\u00f3lo busca consolidarse en el presente sino tambi\u00e9n poner un pie en el pasado. Busca instalar una historia tergiversada y falaz en la cual los armenios han perpetrado un genocidio contra Azerbaiy\u00e1n, han ocupado sus tierras hist\u00f3ricas y son enemigos de los pueblos circundantes. Esta historia que el lobby azer\u00ed quiere instalar en el presente, no es una batalla del pasado.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo podemos separar esta causa de nuestra historia. Hoy el lobby turco-azer\u00ed no viene s\u00f3lo a instalar una agenda geopol\u00edtica, no viene por un metro cuadrado m\u00e1s. Viene por todo\u201d enfatiz\u00f3 Sabuncuyan. \u201cLa comunidad armenia en Argentina tiene casi un siglo de lucha. En este siglo, hemos enfrentado distintas amenazas\u201d afirm\u00f3, y sostuvo que \u201cla idea de una Armenia sin armenios est\u00e1 en la agenda de Turqu\u00eda y de Azerbaiy\u00e1n\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por su parte, el Dr. Carlos Antaramian expuso detalles del l<a title=\"El Cabildeo dela embajada de Azerbalyan en Mexico\" href=\"http:\/\/issuu.com\/diarioarmenia\/docs\/el_cabildeo_de_la_embajada_de_azerb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obby azer\u00ed en su pa\u00eds<\/a>, tomando el caso del emplazamiento de una <a title=\"Retiran en M\u00e9xico la estatua del ex Presidente azer\u00ed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cna.org.ar\/retiran-en-mexico-la-estatua-de-ex-presidente-azeri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estatua de Heydar Aliyev<\/a> en un espacio p\u00fablico, \u201cla creaci\u00f3n de una plaza y el Parque de la Amistad M\u00e9xico-Azerbaiy\u00e1n, ambas inauguradas el 22 de agosto de 2012\u2033. \u201cEsta campa\u00f1a ten\u00eda como finalidad enaltecer la figura de Heydar Aliyev y utilizar en espacios p\u00fablicos el t\u00e9rmino genocidio\u201d para calificar una supuesta matanza cometida por armenios contra azer\u00edes, advirti\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sin embargo, seg\u00fan Antaramian, la iniciativa tuvo el efecto contrario al que buscaba la Embajada de Azerbaiy\u00e1n. \u201cLa estatua a Heydar Aliyev gener\u00f3 un movimiento en contra de ella. La gente empez\u00f3 a informarse. Por eso decimos, de alguna forma, que el tiro les sali\u00f3 por la culata. Fueron los vecinos y activistas de derechos humanos los que se manifestaron en contra\u201d. El movimiento que se gener\u00f3 \u201chizo que se creara una comisi\u00f3n de an\u00e1lisis, que determin\u00f3 que la estatua deb\u00eda ser removida, y el t\u00e9rmino genocidio cambiado por masacre\u201d. Es por ello que Antaramian afirm\u00f3 que \u201clas consecuencias del lobby azer\u00ed fueron la integraci\u00f3n de la comunidad armenia, la apertura de la embajada de Armenia en M\u00e9xico y un desprecio generalizado a Heydar Aliyev\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En cuanto a la historia de la comunidad armenia de M\u00e9xico, Antaramian se remont\u00f3 a actas de la Inquisici\u00f3n de principios del siglo XVI, y a trav\u00e9s de una investigaci\u00f3n rigurosa y detallada, complementada con los testimonios personales presentes en su documental, logr\u00f3 reconstruir cuatro siglos de presencia de armenios y sus descendientes en M\u00e9xico. Es para destacar que su trabajo presenta los v\u00ednculos de estos hombres y mujeres con los diferentes momentos de la historia mexicana, sin descuidar los aspectos cotidianos de sus vidas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>El Dr. Carlos Antaramian es Licenciado en Relaciones Internacionales por la UNAM (1999), maestro y doctor en Antropolog\u00eda Social por El Colegio de Michoac\u00e1n (2006). Realiz\u00f3 una estancia posdoctoral en la UAM-X (2008-9). Actualmente es profesor-investigador adscrito al \u00c1rea de Producci\u00f3n Multimedia de El Colegio de Michoac\u00e1n efectuando una investigaci\u00f3n sobre La migraci\u00f3n armenia en Am\u00e9rica Latina. Recientemente realiz\u00f3 el documental \u201cLos armenios en La Merced\u201d (2012) y publicado\u201d Del Ararat al Popocat\u00e9petl. Los Armenios en M\u00e9xico\u201d, (2011), adem\u00e1s de algunos art\u00edculos sobre la conmemoraci\u00f3n del Genocidio armenio y sobre las comunidades armenias en general. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Photo: Dr. Carlos Antaramian (<i>izquierda)<\/i> y Nicol\u00e1s Sabuncuyan, director de pol\u00edtica institucional del CNA-Buenos Aires.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carlos Antaramian: Azerbaijani Lobby &#8220;backfired&#8221; in Mexico<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n(Prensa Armenia) During his visit to Buenos Aires, Dr. Carlos Antaramian exposed <a title=\"Details of Azeri lobby in Mexico revealed \" href=\"http:\/\/www.prensaarmenia.com.ar\/2013\/12\/details-of-azeri-lobby-in-mexico.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">details of Azerbaijani lobby in his country<\/a> on April 8, in a conference entitled &#8220;Armenians in Mexico: history and present&#8221; organized by the <a title=\"CNA de Sudam\u00e9rica\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cna.org.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armenian National Committee of South America<\/a> (CNA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recalling that &#8220;Mexico was the first country to adopt a resolution condemning the genocide in Khojaly&#8221;, Antaramian explained that one of the most important campaigns of the Azerbaijani ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov was &#8220;the creation of Tlaxcoaque-Khojaly Square and the Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park, both inaugurated on August 22, 2012.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;This campaign attempted to exalt the figure of Heydar Aliyev and use in public spaces the term &#8216;genocide&#8217; to describe the tragedy of Khojaly, to convince congressmen and senators that Armenians committed a genocide during the Karabakh war&#8221;, said Antaramian.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, Antaramian remarked that the creation of Heydar Aliyev&#8217;s statue &#8220;generated a movement against it. People started to learn about him. That&#8217;s why we say, somehow, that it backfired. The neighbors and human rights activists movilized against it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although &#8220;the ambassador tried to keep the statue at all costs&#8221; the movement generated &#8220;the creation of a review commission, which ruled that the statue should be removed and the term &#8216;genocide&#8217; had to be changed to &#8216;slaughter&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Antaramian recalled that Mukhtarov accused the Armenian community of being &#8220;used&#8221; by Washington, &#8220;but in reality, this community were just families that were not organized until this problem, they had no representation, schools, churches, and had no contact with each other&#8221;, and that is why the Azeri lobby &#8220;ended up creating an Armenian community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, Antaramian explained that &#8220;the consequences of Azeri lobby were the integration of the Armenian community, the opening of the Armenian Embassy in Mexico and a general disregard for Heydar Aliyev.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nicolas Sabuncuyan, Director of Institutional Politics of CNA, opened the conference, where the Antaramian&#8217;s documentary entitled &#8220;The Armenians in La Merced&#8221; was shown, explaining the details and movements of the Azerbaijani embassy in Argentina. &#8220;Why did they open an embassy in Buenos Aires rather than in the most important country of the region, Brazil? Tomas Gerbasio, an academic co-opted by Azerbaijan, can give us the answer to this question. In one of his articles, he said that the Azerbaijani embassy in Buenos Aires was installed to counter the strong prescence of the Armenian community&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sabuncuyan also denounced the work of the Azeri embassy in academia fields, where they &#8220;try to educate people in Argentina to repeat their discourse&#8221;, in a cathedra at the University of La Plata which organizes competitions &#8220;for young people to produce work with materials and information that the embassy itself provides them, so they can win a trip to Azerbaijan. This way, the Azeri state has spokespersons holding their speech.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The Azeri lobby is not separated from the Armenian genocide.
