S\u2019il fait moins les titres de l\u2019actualit\u00e9, ce conflit continue, les offensives du r\u00e9gime d\u2019Assad se multiplient, des villes gagn\u00e9es par l\u2019opposition sont reprises. L\u2019opposition est loin d\u2019\u00eatre unie, \u00e0 l\u2019arm\u00e9e syrienne libre s\u2019opposent des groupes islamistes, qui cherchent \u00e0 imposer leur vision du monde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vous l\u2019avez d\u00e9j\u00e0 dit, il ne peut y avoir de solution que politique. Malheureusement, la Conf\u00e9rence de Gen\u00e8ve II n\u2019a pas amen\u00e9 les r\u00e9sultats escompt\u00e9s, et les tr\u00eaves humanitaires ne sont que de courtes dur\u00e9es et tr\u00e8s insuffisantes pour faire face aux besoins de la population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fin mars, le village de Kassab tombait aux mains de rebelles islamistes. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement provoque une inqui\u00e9tude particuli\u00e8re de la population car ce village est majoritairement arm\u00e9nien, peupl\u00e9 de descendants de rescap\u00e9s du g\u00e9nocide de 1915. Les islamistes ont attaqu\u00e9 depuis la Turquie, ce qui ne fait qu\u2019accro\u00eetre l\u2019inqui\u00e9tude de cette communaut\u00e9 arm\u00e9nienne.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Monsieur le Ministre, mes questions sont les suivantes :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Avez-vous abord\u00e9 la question de la Syrie avec vos interlocuteurs iraniens lors de votre r\u00e9cente visite ?<br \/>\nSi oui, cela laisse-t-il entrevoir une influence sur le pr\u00e9sident syrien pour une issue n\u00e9goci\u00e9e, le respect des minorit\u00e9s, et le respect du droit humanitaire ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; La situation en Syrie a-t-elle \u00e9t\u00e9 abord\u00e9e lors de votre r\u00e9cent voyage en Arabie saoudite ? Les autorit\u00e9s saoudiennes s\u2019engagent-elles \u00e0 influencer les groupes islamistes qu\u2019elles soutiennent pour une issue n\u00e9goci\u00e9e, le respect des minorit\u00e9s, et le respect du droit humanitaire ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Pourriez-vous faire le point des discussions au niveau europ\u00e9en, en ce qui concerne les sanctions vis-\u00e0-vis de la Syrie et le soutien \u00e0 une solution politique ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Les communaut\u00e9s chr\u00e9tiennes en Syrie sont particuli\u00e8rement cibl\u00e9es. Cette situation fait-elle l\u2019objet d\u2019une approche sp\u00e9cifique au niveau europ\u00e9en ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Je vous remercie,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Andr\u00e9 du Bus,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">le 26 mars 2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Question to the Belgian minister of foreign affairs on Kessab and Syria\u200f<\/h4>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brussels, March 26 2014,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">(ANC Belgium) Following the statement of the Armenian National Committee of Belgium and the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy, regarding the recent invasion of Kessab district of Syria by Al-Qaida affiliated extremists, and the displacement of Syrian Armenians and other Christian minorities of Syria, Mr. Andre de Bus, member of the Belgian Senate, and Senator for Brussels and the Walon-Brussels Federation, sent a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Mr. Didier Reynders, requesting explanations on the issue and the current situation at the Syrian border areas with Turkey, and the conflict in general.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here, in its entirety the letter sent by Senator Andre de Bus (translated from French):<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dear Mister Minister,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The civil war continues in Syria claiming more and more victims, damages and destruction with every other day. Regardless of the current disinterest of media on the topic, the towns in control by the opposition are being taken back by the Assad regime, and are growing in numbers. Unfortunately, the opposition is not united; the Syrian Free Army is opposed by the Islamist groups that are striving to impose their view of world order.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you have already mentioned, this issue could not have any other decision than that of political. Unfortunately, the Geneva conference has not brought the expected results and the humanitarian pauses are too short in duration and not sufficient to tackle the needs of suffering population.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the end of March the Kessab region has fallen in the hands of Islamist rebels. This event has raised more population concerns as they are inhabited mainly by Armenians, descendants of the 1915 genocide survivors. The Islamists came from the territory of Turkey, a fact that is disturbing the Armenian population of the region.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mister Minister,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">My questions to you are as follows:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Have you discussed the issue of Syria with your Iranian counterparts during your recent visit? &#8211; If so, do you foresee an influence on the Syrian president to a negotiated outcome, respect for minorities and human rights?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Has the situation in Syria been discussed during your recent trip to Saudi Arabia? Are Saudi authorities willing to influence the Islamist groups, and do they support a negotiated outcome, respect for minorities and human rights?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Could you give an update on discussions at European level as regards to sanctions vis-\u00e0-vis Syria, and support for a political solution?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; The Christian communities in Syria are particularly targeted.
