{"id":12694,"date":"2017-06-30T20:34:22","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T20:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ancnews.info\/?p=12694"},"modified":"2017-06-30T20:34:22","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T20:34:22","slug":"anca-western-region-praises-california-legislators-for-funding-armenian-american-priorities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ancnews.info\/?p=12694","title":{"rendered":"ANCA Western Region Praises California Legislators for funding Armenian American Priorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GLENDALE\u2013The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ANCAWesternRegion\/\">Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region<\/a> issued a statement Thursday praising Governor Brown and California Legislators for their efforts in securing funding for the Armenian American Museum and statewide Genocide education <!--more Continue reading \/ \u0531\u0574\u0562\u0578\u0572\u057b\u0568 \u2192--> in the 2017-2018 California state budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Below is the text of that statement:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Armenian National Committee of America, Western Region (ANCA-WR) today applauded the State Legislature and Governor Jerry Brown for including funds in the 2017 \u2013 2018 Budget supporting Armenian American initiatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Budget adopted on June 15 by the California State Legislature and signed by the Governor earlier this week adds $3 million for the construction of the Armenian American Museum and Cultural Center of California and allocates $10 million for programs related to the implementation of the new History\/Social Science curriculum framework, including Armenian Genocide education. In letters to Governor Brown, Senate Pro-Temp Kevin de Leon, and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, the ANCA-WR expressed its appreciation for these increases in funding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ANCA-WR offered its highest praise to Senator Anthony Portantino (D \u2013 La Canada Flintridge) for championing the request for the designation of funds for the Armenian Genocide curriculum and providing additional funding to the Armenian American Museum, not only by listening to the concerns of his constituents, but also mobilizing the support of the State Legislature and the Governor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The leadership provided in the State Senate by Senator Portantino and in the State Assembly by Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian (D \u2013 Sherman Oaks) have been key to recent accomplishments.
