With support from all major parties represented in the Canadian <!--more Continue reading \/ \u0531\u0574\u0562\u0578\u0572\u057b\u0568 \u2192--> Parliament, the motion recalls the genocides recognized by Canada, the Jewish Holocaust, the Ukrainian Holodomor, the Rwandan Tutsi Genocide and the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The Canadian Parliament has also recognized the Bosnian Genocide and the ongoing genocide that is being committed against the Yezidi minority in Syria and Iraq today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The passage of Motion 587 was the realization of a joint effort between the Jewish, Armenian, Ukrainian and Rwandese communities that sought to bring the issue of recognizing, condemning and preventing future genocides to the attention of the international community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On April 24, 2015, a strong and a united message was echoed through the halls of the Canadian Parliament. The motion reaffirmed Canada\u2019s commitment to the important cause of genocide prevention and recognized that the first step to prevention is to ensure that we remember and condemn past genocides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The collaboration of various communities was vital in securing the passage of a motion that upheld and continues to uphold our core values of respect, tolerance and intercultural dialogue in a country that diversity is seen as a strength rather than a weakness. We strongly believe that our collective commitment to justice and human rights will become an exemplary model to the international community as we strive to make our world a more acceptable place for everyone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are confident that successive Canadian governments will build upon the legacy of this motion and continue upholding their commitment in remembering and condemning past genocides while working to prevent future tragedies from taking place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ArmenianNationalCommitteeofCanada\/\">Armenian National Committee of Canada<\/a> (ANCC)<br \/>\nThe Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA)<br \/>\nUkranian Canadian Congress (UCC)<br \/>\nHumura Association<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Les associations CIJA, CNAC, UCC et Humura ont publi\u00e9 une d\u00e9claration commune sur le souvenir, la condamnation dans le cadre du mois de la pr\u00e9vention du g\u00e9nocide.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ottawa \u2013 Le 24 avril 2015, la Chambre des communes a adopt\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019unanimit\u00e9 une motion historique (M-587) d\u00e9signant le mois d\u2019avril comme Mois du souvenir, de la condamnation et de la pr\u00e9vention du g\u00e9nocide. Avec le soutien de tous les principaux partis repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s au Parlement canadien, la motion rappelle les g\u00e9nocides reconnus par le Canada: l\u2019holocauste juif, le Holodomor ukrainien, le g\u00e9nocide des Tutsis au Rwanda et le g\u00e9nocide arm\u00e9nien de 1915. Le Parlement canadien a \u00e9galement reconnu le g\u00e9nocide de Srebrenica et le g\u00e9nocide en cours qui est commis aujourd\u2019hui contre la minorit\u00e9 Yezidi en Syrie et en Irak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019adoption de la motion 587 est la r\u00e9alisation d\u2019un effort conjoint entre les communaut\u00e9s juive, arm\u00e9nienne, ukrainienne et rwandaise cherchant \u00e0 attirer l\u2019attention de la communaut\u00e9 internationale sur la question de la reconnaissance, de la condamnation et de la pr\u00e9vention des futurs g\u00e9nocides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le 24 avril 2015, un message fort s\u2019est fait entendre \u00e0 l\u2019unisson dans les salles du Parlement canadien. La motion r\u00e9affirmait l\u2019engagement du Canada \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de la cause importante de la pr\u00e9vention du g\u00e9nocide et reconnaissait que la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape de la pr\u00e9vention consistait \u00e0 nous rappeler et \u00e0 condamner les g\u00e9nocides pass\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La collaboration de diverses communaut\u00e9s a \u00e9t\u00e9 essentielle pour obtenir l\u2019adoption d\u2019une motion qui confirme et qui maintient nos valeurs fondamentales de respect, de tol\u00e9rance et de dialogue interculturel dans un pays o\u00f9 la diversit\u00e9 est per\u00e7ue comme une force plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une faiblesse.
