(Nederlands Armeens Comit\u00e9 voor Rechtvaardigheid en Democratie<\/a>) Ook dit jaar hebben de Samenwerkende Armeense Organisatie (SAO) een demonstratie georganiseerd voor de Azerbeidzjaanse ambassade in Den Haag, ter nagedachtenis van de slachtoffers van Soemgait in 1988 en in andere steden. De demonstratie vond vandaag plaats en ondanks de extreem ongunstige weersomstandigheden, waren weer vele Armeni\u00ebrs naar Den Haag gekomen om krachtig te protesteren tegen het anti-Armeense beleid van Azerbeidzjan. Voor de demonstratie vond een ontmoeting plaats in het Nederlandse ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken tussen een delegatie van SAO en de plaatsvervangend directeur van de directie Europa, Adriaan Palm. De delegatie van SAO overhandigde hem een brief aan Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Koenders. Vervolgens werd uitvoerig gesproken over een groot aantal belangrijke onderwerpen en de zorgen van de Armeni\u00ebrs in Nederland over de situatie in Nagorno Karabach, waar het conflict zojuist weer is opgelaaid. In de brief wordt de Nederlandse regering gevraagd zich in te zetten om een oorlog te voorkomen en om een versterkte inzet, al dan niet in EU verband, te bevorderen om tot een politieke, vreedzame oplossing van het conflict te komen. Deze hangt geheel af van de naleving van het staakt-het-vuren, dat regelmatig door Azerbeidzjan wordt geschonden, hetgeen zonder internationale waarnemers niet vastgesteld wordt. Ook wordt gevraagd om de Azerbeidjaanse agressie en het openlijke racisme tegen Armeni\u00eb(rs) publiekelijk te (blijven) veroordelen. De Nederlandse diplomaat sprak over beperkingen van het beleid van zijn land in dit verband en de noodzaak als Nederland de pogingen van OVSE Minsk Groep te ondersteunen. De delegatie stelde tevens het Nederlandse standpunt aan de orde inzake de uitlevering van de blogger Lapshin de recente Azerbeidzjaanse uitleveringsverzoeken van drie leden van het Europese Parlement, en mogelijke situaties als dit Nederlanders zou treffen.<\/p>\n

De demonstratie van de Armeni\u00ebrs van Nederland begon bij de Vredespaleis in Den Haag. Onder het scanderen van leuzen liepen de demonstranten door de straten van Den Haag en bereikten de Ambassade van Azerbeidzjan, waar de scanderingen luider en krachtiger werden. De manifestatie duurde meer dan een uur ondanks de zware regen en wind. Er waren toespraken en liederen in verschillende talen, zelfs werd er een lied uitgevoerd door de jongste deelnemer van de demonstratie.<\/p>\n

Zo hebben de Armeni\u00ebrs van Nederland nogmaals bewezen dat zelfs duizenden kilometers ver van Karabach ze nog steeds solidair zijn met de soldaten die het vaderland verdedigen.<\/p>\n

Dutch-Armenians hold protest outside Azerbaijan\u2019s embassy in Hague, convey letter to MFA of Netherlands<\/strong><\/p>\n

(ARMENPRESS) The Joint Armenian Organisation organized a demonstration in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in The Hague, in memory of the victims of Sumgayit in 1988 and in other cities, the Organisation told \u201cArmenpress\u201d.<\/p>\n

The demonstration took place despite the extremely adverse weather conditions. Again many Armenians came to The Hague to protest strongly against the anti-Armenian policy of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n

Before the demonstration, a meeting took place at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs between a delegation of Joint Armenian Organisation and the Deputy Director of Europe Department, Adriaan Palm. The delegation of Joint Armenian Organisation handed him a letter addressed to Foreign Minister Koenders.<\/p>\n

Thereafter an extensive discussion took place on many important issues and concerns of the Armenians in the Netherlands on the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, where the conflict has just been intensified.<\/p>\n

In the letter the Dutch government is asked to work for preventing war and to promote greater efforts, whether on own initiative or at EU level, in order to achieve a political, peaceful solution to the conflict. This depends first of all on the observance of the cease-fire, which is regularly violated by Azerbaijan, which cannot be established without the presence of international observers. The letter also asks to condemn (and to continue condemning) publicly the Azerbaijani aggression and overt racism against Armenia and Armenians. The Dutch diplomat spoke about limitations of the policy of his country in this regard and the need for the Netherlands to support the efforts of OSCE Minsk Group. The delegation also asked about the Dutch position on the issue of extradition of blogger Lapshin to Azerbaijan, the recent Azerbaijani extradition requests for three members of the European Parliament and possible similar situations that would affect Dutch nationals.<\/p>\n

The demonstration of Dutch-Armenians started at the Peace Palace in The Hague. Under the chanting of slogans, the demonstrators marched through the streets of The Hague and reached the Embassy of Azerbaijan, where the slogans were chanted louder and sounded more powerful. The event lasted over an hour despite the heavy rain and wind. There were speeches and songs in different languages, even a song was performed by the youngest participant of the demonstration.<\/p>\n

It is once again proved that the Dutch-Armenians living thousands of kilometers away from Karabakh, are in solidarity with the soldiers who defend the homeland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
