On Friday, the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) announced that its Hye Votes voter registration and get-out-the-vote initiative in collaboration with local ANCA-WR chapters will set shops at community markets and centers throughout Los Angeles County on Saturday, August, 29, 2015 in an effort to educate the community about the electoral process and increase the Armenian-American voter pool in preparation for the upcoming 2016 Elections.
“On April 24, more than 166,000 marched united on the streets of Los Angeles to mark the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. This act of solidarity and determination displayed the influence and strength of our community as we continue to seek justice and advance the Armenian Cause. We must now transfer that energy and call for justice we took to the streets to the ballot box and elect candidates who truly stand ready to serve the needs of our diverse communities,” stated ANCA WR Executive Director Elen Asatryan. “With more than 350,000 Armenians in the LA County alone, our community has the ability to be the decisive voice in the critical local, state, and federal level elections coming up in 2016 as many are decided by a few thousand votes – if not a few hundred. We call on our community members to stop by one of our voter registration locations on August 29th, register to vote and strengthen our collective voice,” added Asatryan.
Volunteers from the regional office and local chapters will be on hand to assist eligible community members to register to vote between 10:00AM-6:00PM at the following locations:
