Following the unanimous passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution authored and introduced by CA Assembly Speaker John Perez, leaders of the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA WR) held a private meeting with the Speaker to thank him for his leadership and support and to discuss issues of importance to the Armenian-American community.
At the front seat of topics discussed were ongoing effort to secure recognition of Artsakh (Republic of Nagorno Karabagh) by the California legislature, the recent attacks facilitated by Turkey resulting in displacement of Armenians in Kessab, Syria, as well as the organization’s centennial project “America, We Thank You” highlighting the massive relief efforts made by the United States during the Armenian Genocide through the Near East Relief.
“We are extremely grateful to Speaker Perez who was so moved by the experience of his legislative trip to Armenia with the ANCA-WR last fall, that he highlighted the authority of his office by personally introducing the Armenian Genocide resolution this year. We were also gratified to be able to meet privately with the Speaker once again for our ongoing discussions about the current situations our brethren face in Artsakh and in Kessab, and we look forward to his continued leadership on issues of concern to California’s large Armenian-American constituency,” stated ANCA WR Chair Nora Hovsepian.

Հայ Դատի Հանդիպումը Քալիֆորնիոյ Խորհրդարանի Նախագահ Փերեզի Հետ
ԿԼԵՆՏԷՅԼ.- Երկուշաբթի, Ապրիլ 7ին, Քալիֆորնիոյ նահանգային խորհրդարանի նախագահ Ճան Փերեզի հեղինակած եւ ներկայացուցած Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան բանաձեւի միաձայն վաւերացումէն ետք, Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի ղեկավարներ հանդիպում մը ունեցած են Փերեզի հետ, շնորհակալութիւն յայտնելու համար ամերիկահայութիւնը յուզող հարցերուն անոր ցուցաբերած աջակցութեան:
Քննուած հարցերուն մէջ առաջնակարգ տեղ գրաւած են Քալիֆորնիոյ խորհրդարանին կողմէ Արցախի Հանրապետութեան ճանաչման ապահովումը, Թուրքիոյ օժանդակութեամբ Քեսապի վրայ յարձակումը եւ շրջանի հայերուն տեղահանութիւնը, ինչպէս նաեւ Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան հարիւրամեակին առիթով Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին նախաձեռնած «Շնորհակալութի՛ւն Ամերիկա» արշաւը, որուն նպատակն է լուսարձակի տակ առնել Ամերիկայի ցուցաբերած օժանդակութիւնը՝ Ցեղասպանութենէն վերապրած հայութեան զաւակներուն:
«Խորապէս երախտապարտ ենք խորհրդարանի նախագահ Փերեզին, որ անցեալ աշնան Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբին հետ Հայաստան կատարած իր այցելութեան ընթացքին, յայտնապէս զգացուած՝ որոշեց անձամբ հեղինակել եւ ներկայացնել Ցեղասպանութեան բանաձեւը՝ յաւելեալ կշիռ տալով անոր: Հանդիպումը առիթ մը եղաւ աւելի մանրամասնօրէն քննելու հայութիւնը յուզող շարք մը հարցեր, յատկապէս անոնք, որոնք կ՛առնչուին Արցախի եւ Քեսապի մեր եղբայրներուն», յայտնեց Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի Հայ Դատի յանձնախումբի ատենապետուհի Նորա Յովսէփեան:
